Infrastructure and financing

Financing

Besides the usual institutional resources, the funds from company-university partnerships will be managed in partnership with the Fundação de Apoio à Universidade de São Paulo (FUSP), Fundação Faculdade de Medicina (FFM) or Fundação Zerbini (FZ).

The use of these funds complies with USP's Rules and Regulations. Besides the current funding, the Program's supervisors also obtain resources from research and technological innovation funding agencies, such as the programs Inova and Inovação em Tecnologia Assistiva, among others, from the Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP), National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) (universal edict, productivity scholarships, technical support scholarships, scientific initiation scholarships - PIBIC, specific health area edicts), from the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) and from the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) (Research Support - Regular, Thematic Project). Besides the funding of the research itself, the technical reserve of some sponsorships will contribute to the optimization and maintenance of the research infrastructure. Another source of funding for research projects is the partnership with equipment companies and the pharmaceutical industry. The Center for Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Studies of the USP's Anesthesiology Department (CEDAR) partially assumes the financing of some research projects.

The professors involved in post-graduation are aware of the importance of seeking funding from companies, in partnership company-university projects, and from development agencies and funding agencies for the execution of scientific-technological research projects of excellence.

In the presentation of candidates for graduate studies, the future advisor is asked about the availability of resources and the financial feasibility of the proposed project, an initial learning opportunity for the future student. The mandatory discipline of the program (Methodological Basis of Scientific Research) devotes part of the program to discussing the processes involved in raising funds for research.
